JOB TITLE: Product Engineer
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time
JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Evaluates new products and makes recommendations based on knowledge of the hospitality market and the current infrastructure.
• Works to successfully integrate and test products that have been evaluated and chosen for field trial.
• Communicates positively with all stakeholders in the test to coordinate a successful product trial.
• Assists Manager Hospitality Engineering in establishing goals and timelines for product testing.
• Creates operating procedures and drawings as necessary to facilitate a successful new product launch and continued operation.
• Acts as Project Manager on engineering projects.
• Acts as a liaison to VOD technology vendors.
• Assists the Hospitality Network Installation department in coordination of the installation of a new product.
• Assists the Hospitality Network Maintenance department in troubleshooting and resolving issues with new products for as long as needed.
• Analyzes customer input to identify product deficiencies and recommends design and support requirements as required, documenting changes as necessary.
• Facilitates communications and smooth workflow between departments by holding or attending meetings, preparing reports and participating on task forces as necessary.
• Manages the software road map for VOD related technologies. Works with vendors to receive software updates, tests the updates, and produces procedures for technicians to perform updates in the field.
• Establishes and maintains effective communications and professional working relationships with customers, internal personnel, both at system and corporate offices, and with outside contacts.
• Effectively organizes workday to maximize productivity by utilizing proper time management skills.
• Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts and to work in any other Las Vegas location as needed.
• Assists in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor Degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science or demonstrated equivalent work experience in related field. Or a combination of the following:
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certified or equivalent experience.
A+ Certification, A+ Network Certification and CCNA certification or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 10 years work experience with 5 years in electronic engineering or computer science field required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Demonstrated knowledge of PC’s and business application software packages.
• Advanced knowledge of network operating systems and networking protocols with emphasis on Ethernet, TCP/IP, Windows NT / 2000 and RF-Hybrid Fiber Coax networks.
• Working knowledge of OSI model and resulting applications and technology.
• Familiarity with Unix platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of data communications technologies (i.e. routers, bridgers, etc.)
• Working knowledge of LAN, WAN, MAN and ethernet technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of RF communication and CATV networks architecture
